Limited Capacity filling up

Based on self-determination theory and in collaboration with educators and professionals from local school boards, we developed and implemented a professional development program, called CASIS, designed to improve teachers’ pedagogical practices to foster elementary students’ motivational resources and achievement. the five pedagogical practices targeted in CASIS are: collaboration, authentic activities, structure, involvement, and support for autonomy. the present workshop includes four learning units. Unit 1 provides a brief explanation of motivational resources and why they are important for children’s learning and achievement. Units 2 and 3 define the five pedagogical practices. Written case studies will be provided to ensure that all participants had a good understanding of the concepts. We will also illustrate each pedagogical practice with a series of videos featuring teachers and their students. Unit 4 will focus on participants’ own competencies in applying the pedagogical practices.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to ...
1) have a better knowledge of motivational resources relevant for students’ learning and achievement;
2) a better understanding of the five pedagogical practices;
3) use these practices effectively with their students.
